Hey, I'm Emma. I'm late to the booktube scene and because of this, I want to immerse myself in it till I can't figure out which way is up or down! I enjoy thrillers, contemporary, drama, mystery, suspense, horror, paranormal, romance, steampunk - but basically I am open to trying practically anything.

Night Film: A Novel
Night Film: A Novel - Marisha Pessl
3 stars, but more like 2.5

while i liked the multimedia interactive aspect of this book, for me it entirely failed to deliver and after i finished it i was left wondering, "so...what was all the fuss about??" i was under the impression that this book would be creepy, thrilling, dark, unnerving, mysterious, a page turner...but it was anything but, and it left me underwhelmed and disappointed. it seemed to drag on forever and there were so many red herrings that didn't amount to anything substantial. i didn't particularly care for any of the characters. i kept waiting for something interesting to happen, something exciting, but there was nothing. i will be doing more of an in depth review on my booktube channel soon: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoLrUW9lSPYo-ByrPf7qOPA

The Difference Engine
The Difference Engine - William Gibson
was very disappointed, especially as this is supposed to be one of the pioneer books to modern steampunk and i am just getting into steampunk and was looking forward to it...in fact i couldn't even finish the book it was so slow, monotonous and boring. the plot developed at an incredibly slow rate and didn't hold my interest in the slightest. it was very male oriented which i didn't like, there were hardly any women in it and if there were any they were depicted as a silly tart or a helpless crazy person with hardly no presence in the story at all

also the writing was a pain to get through, i found myself reading whole pages without taking anything in and then having to read over and over...i regret getting this book very much
